Dr Michael Olugbile (DMO) is the Senior Technical Adviser on Development Partner and International Relations to the Governor of Osun State.
He is a Harvard-trained development expert, born on July 27, 1982 in Okuku, Odo-Otin LGA of Osun State. He had his primary and secondary education in Okuku and then proceeded to College of Medicine, University of Ilorin where he had his medical training. He thereafter proceeded to the prestigious Harvard University where he bagged a Master degree.
He is a Public Health Physician with local and international experience. He worked as a Research Fellow with Center for Patient Safety at Brigham and Women Hospital, Boston, USA and also had experience working on Global Fund, USAID and UK-Department for International Development funded projects. As at the time of his appointment as the Senior Technical Adviser to the Governor, he was working as a Health Specialist with the World Bank.
Consistent with his passion to make a positive difference in the lives of the common man, Dr Olugbile is also the Director of the Grassroots Initiative for Positive Socio-Economic Development (GIPSED), a non-governmental organization he co-founded with his wife, Mrs Oluwapelumi Olugbile (nee Olutoye).
A natural born leader, Dr Olugbile has occupied several leadership positions both at home and abroad including President of Ilorin University Medical Students Association (ILUMSA), Vice President of University of Ilorin Student Union Government. While at Harvard, Dr Olugbile was the President of Harvard Nigeria Students and Scholars and elected as the Life-President of the Harvard Class of 2011 among others.
In a bid to contribute his quota to national development and the change agenda of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Dr Olugbile had an unsuccessful bid during the 2015 general elections to represent the good people of Odo-Otin/Ifelodun/Boripe Federal Constituency in Osun State at the House of Representatives under the All Progressives Congress (APC). Following his desire to serve the people, Dr Olugbile join the Governor Rauf Aregbesola-led administration as the Senior Technical Adviser to the Governor on Development Partners and International Relations where he is tasked with overseeing all donor-funded projects in the State while also actively seeking new assistance.
Above all, he is a lover of God and He considers his calling into politics to be a Kingdom assignment even as the Scriptures say that “we are the light of the world”.
