I want to help in numerous circumstances create positive changes in my community. One of such positive changes is my success in making a dent in the proliferation of illicit drugs in my community. I am currently engaged with Bauchi Youth Drug Free Club, a non-governmental organization that is devoted to informing our youths about the destructive menace of illicit drugs. My decision to devote much of my time to this difficult-yet stressful engagement is bound out of the fact that youths are susceptible to the negative influence of drug addicts who exploit their fragility, due to poverty and illiteracy, to lure them into abusing drugs. The irony is that thousands of people try in vain to do away with the bad habit but due to lack of supports from governments as well as near-absence of rehabilitation centers in our community, I feel compelled to align with my fellow activists in order to help our youths stay away from drugs and also to help addicted youths who are desperate to renounce drugs and barbiturates.
