This is why we think Social Democratic Party might be the third force
The national chairman of Social Democratic Party and former secretary to the government of the federation, Chief Olu Falae was at Abeokuta earlier today to hold a closed door meeting with Chief Olusegun Obasanjo. The meeting which lasted for almost two hours at the Owu residence of Obasanjo had no journalist in attendance.
Although details of the meeting was not released to journalists but speculations have it that Chief Olu Falae wants Obasanjo’s blessings as regards choice of candidates ahead of 2019 elections. It would be recalled that Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has been clamoring for a third force to challenge PDP and APC in 2019 general elections.
Sources from different quarters also suggest that the party might pull a formidable force with recent endorsement by Gen. Ibrahim Babangida and a pack of PDP members who deflected in the wake of Ekiti gubernatorial election.
Independent Newspaper also reported that Kaduna opposition senator, Shehu Sani defected to SDP today. The troubled senator who is having his fair share of misalignment within the All Progressive Congress has however denied the news on his twitter page;
I’m still in the Broomcity FC as a left winger and not a defender.The rumour that I’ve changed club to White Horse Athletico and that they offered me the position of a striker is untrue.If there will be any club… https://t.co/UyJQtmW6s8

All efforts to reach official website of SDP to confirm the news proved abortive.
