In the build up to the general elections in 2019, we continue our series celebrating the incredible determination of young Nigerians across the country running for public offices in the coming elections.
If you missed the first part, you can catch up here.
As we continue to await the presidential consent to #NotTooYoungToRun Bill, several young people from the West, the East and the North of Nigeria are throwing their weights into the political scene.
Our team have been in touch with some of them and are profiling them to support and give them as much publicity as possible.
If you know any young person towing similar paths, tell them to contact us.
Taofeek Olashile Adekunle (Africanus)
Taofeek Adekunle fondly called Africanus is an aspirant in the coming elections for a seat in the House of Assembly representing the Ede South Constituency, State of Osun. He is the son of Late Alhaji Hon. Musa Ololade Adekunle who was the Chairman of Ede South Local Government between 1999-2002. Africanus had his primary and secondary school education in Ede (with a brief stint in Ikirun), Osun State before proceeding to the University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Kwara State where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in History and International Relations.
Africanus’ pedigree in leadership position speak volume about his person. Although, this is his first voyage into the political mainstream but as someone who has undergone tutelage from a politician father and from our observation of his antecedent, we judge that he is ready and up to the task ahead. Some of the positions he has held in the past include; PRO, faculty of Arts, University of Ilorin; General Secretary, Federation of Edeland Students, University of Ilorin; President, Federation of Edeland Students, University of Ilorin; National President, Federation of Edeland Students and President, NYSC CDS Group, Delta State.
Taofeek Africanus commenced his grassroots campaign with several activities in his hometown of Ede with Spelling Bee competitions for Primary School pupils and Leadership seminar series for students of secondary schools. He is changing the narratives as a student leader transitioning into political leader to watch out for.
Meet this erudite public administration graduate of the prestigious Ahmadu Bello Univerisity, Zaria. Kunle Lawal is another young Nigerian offering himself to represent the Federal Capital Territory District in the Nigerian senate. He is contesting on the platform of one the new generation political parties.
Kunle Lawal’s foray into public service became a bit prominent when he had a stint as the personal assistant on IT and Publicity to a former Minister of Women Affairs. He solidified his political ambition by taking up the position of the National Publicity Secretary for the KOWA party. He also runs a private firm in Abuja with a focus on branding and management consulting.
He is very clear on his manifestos and intentions for his constituency as outlined on his campaign website-www.kunlelawal.com. There is a clear outline for legislation that will take precedence upon the assumption of office with bills relating to housing, education, health, state of residence and renewable energy taking centre stage. Kunle Lawal is one man that we think is ready for this owing to his level of preparation and clarity of purpose.
Even more admirable is his personal pledge to break away from the norm and dedicate large amounts of the allowance accruing to his office to constituency projects that will make direct impacts on his people. He has also resolved to run an open office that allows interaction with the public and to keep a rented home rather than take up official residence at the expense of taxpayers. He has also identified seven key areas against his administration would be measured. These are; Youth development, Education, Water/Agric/Environment, Health, Sports, Women Empowerment and Local Leadership. More details on each of the element can be seen on his campaign website.
Presenting a brand of politics that promises to be refreshingly different, the #KL2019 movement continues to gather steam as the elections draw closer.

Tunde Eso says he is passionate about serving the people of Osun State as their 5th governor with a view to providing equal opportunities for all. It is very rare to find people who have studied the art and science of politics as an academic discipline deciding to practice by seeking opportunities for civic engagement and public office. That is what we think Balogun Danjuma has done and continues to do with his quest to run for a seat in the Oyo State, House of Assembly come 2019.
Founder of 9jabookings.com, Danjo Oosha as he is fondly called is a young man with a cult-like following in his locality in Egbeda, Oyo State. His official campaign page on facebook keeps garnering followers by day.
Balogun Danjuma is a graduate of Political Science from the University of Ado Ekiti and holds a Masters degree in the same discipline from the University of Ibadan. Balogun Danjuma has a track record of active community service. He was at a time the head of the Olodo Youth Forum, actively participating in government at the grassroots with initiatives that has direct impact on residents.
With a potent mix of education and active community engagement, we can’t wait to see Balogun Danjuma’s zeal for leadership and politics expressed on a bigger platform.
While we would continue to support and offer our services as efficiently as possible, we wish you all the best in your pursuits. We can’t wait to see you perform wonders in greater climes.
